Why we love Apartment Hemans - Palazzo Fortuny

Rome, Rome, thou art no more
As thou hast been!
On thy seven hills of yore
Thou sat’st a queen."

  • Felicia D. Hemans, Roman Girl’s Song *

Located on the 1st Floor (14 steps) no elevator (2nd Floor USA)

Rome Apartment Hemans is one of seven meticulous apartments located in one building, Palazzo Fortuny; a rare and unique gem, centrally located, yet privately and safely tucked away behind secure gates.

This elegant Roman Palazzo is perched on a small hill in a setting of lush greenery with spectacular views of Rome from every window.

It is conveniently bordering Villa Borghese, surrounded by trees offering a tranquil environment, almost like being in the country with no traffic noise, yet ten minutes away from Piazza Del Popolo and the Spanish Steps, where you can indulge in the occasional shopping spree or choose to dine in one of the many great restaurants in this area.

This tastefully refurbished apartment is on the first floor, just fourteen steps up to the front door. The apartment is meticulous in every way and has two bedrooms and two en-suite bathrooms.

The first bedroom is spacious and elegant; traditional in style with a magnificent queen bed. There’s an en-suite bathroom off this bedroom which has a tub and hand shower.

The second bedroom has two single beds and a large sliding door wardrobe. The single beds can be optional as a queen sized bed also.

The apartment was in a perfect location to visit most of Rome's tourist sites. Only three blocks from a Metro station, but also in a very quite neighborhood. The outside terrace was a real plus.

Slightly removed from the hustle and bustle, a quiet hideaway. Transfer from Termini made arrival ver easy and Agosto showed us everything in the apartment, which was clean and well equipped. Our driver for transfer to airport waited patiently for us and ensured we got there on time!

Our accomodation, about 5 mins from the Spanish Steps, was perfect for what we wanted, close to the main attractions and the tourist bus routes. It was clean, quiet and we had no problems with keys or payment. All in all, the partmetn added to a lovely fun filled weekend in Rome. Tara, Ireland

The Apartment Hemans (and the other apts in the same building) give you the best of both worlds. On the one hand, being at the end of a cul de sac and behind a gate, they are very quiet. On the other hand, they are within minutes of the Metro, the Piazza del Popolo, and numerous bus lines. There is easy access to everything you want to see in Rome. And you have a quiet retreat at the end of the day.

The apartment was very charming and conveniently located to the Spanish Steps (just north of the Piazza Popoli) and very convenient to the Villa Borghese Museum. There were several restaurants nearby (casual and sit-down) and easy access to the Metro (about 2 blocks away). The apartment was nicely priced, but did not have a living room. Instead it had a private, quiet garden area with a scenic rooftop view. We loved that we were not burried in the busy city and felt very secure here. The 2 bedroom were comfortable with tons of closet space in the second bedroom. Both bathrooms were very clean and functional. The Master lacked a shower, but had the tub with shower hose (seems to be more of a traditional Italian concept). The 2nd bath had a shower and was the small add-on type with small sliding doors. It too had a shower hose, but really should have had a higher hook-on clasp, since the waist-level was less efficient. I added that comment to the suggestion box so hopefully this will be provided in the future. Both bathrooms had modern toilets, sinks and bidets. Overall, very charming and good value at the $130 Euro per night price. The kitchen was tiny, but had most everything for simple cooking, including a small burner stovetop, microwave, medium refrig and coffee maker. Dishes and silverware were complete, but would have loved a wine-cork puller. I suggest you bring your own since in 14 days of travel only found one hotel with wine opener.
